Laurynas Kasčiūnas

Laurynas Kasčiūnas – born in Vilnius in 1982. In 2006, he completed his master's degree in political science; in 2007-16 he lectured at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of Vilnius University. In 2012, he defended his Ph.D. Implications of EU Internal Integration for External Europeanisation: Case Studies of Ukraine and Russia. In 2012-16 he was the director of the Center for Eastern European Studies (Rytų Europos studijų centrums) in Vilnius. Since 2011, he has been a member of the "Fatherland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats" party (Tėvynės Sąjunga – Lietuvos krikščionys democrat); he has been a member of the Lithuanian Parliament since 2016, in 2019 he became a deputy, and in 2020 -  Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for National Security and Defense
